An Armed Citizenry!
March 8, 2010
(The sword, the bow, the rifle, the shotgun, the pistol)

Don’t be an uninformed Christian.

Know what the Constitution says, and know that the Bible addresses the use of “personal protection”. It mentions the “sword” so many times that my Bible search program will not even list the verses because there are so many references.

Did you realize that the “sword” is a personal weapon of self defense?   It is my belief that nowhere does the Bible suggest “not being armed”. It does state that there are times to “not use the sword” and in actuality to “put away the sword”.

You may be someone who thinks that every war is just another war. You couldn’t be more wrong, for there is “war” and then there is a “just war!”

An armed citizenry? Whether you are a Christian or not, an armed citizenry is important in protecting us against tyranny, despots and personal enemies.

“What a topic!”  you must be thinking. You are right! It is a great topic. It is worthy of consideration in an age and time when some think the removal of guns from all will make us secure and advance the concept of peace for all men.   It is my belief that an “armed citizenry” is designed to promote peace, safety and security for all men.

I believe without the slightest hesitation that America’s fore-fathers believed this.   That is in my opinion why the Second Amendment gives citizens “the right to keep and bear arms.” (Pray God that we never lose this right!)

Retired Major L. Caudill, USMC wrote a tremendous article entitled, “The Gun is Civilization”.    I would like to quote his magazine article - not entirely but in parts. Here we go!

  • “Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force.”
  • “If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or forcing me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, reason or force, without exception."
  • “When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason to try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force."
  • “The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100 pound woman on equal footing with a 220 pound mugger or a 75 year old retiree on equal footing with a 19 year old gang member bent on harm. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.”
These are just a few of his direct statements. The more I read his article the more I liked it. I will conclude with his final paragraph.
  • “When I carry a gun, I don’t do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I’m looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I don’t carry it because I’m afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn’t limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation… and that’s why carrying a gun is a civilized act.”
This article gives further credibility to our Patriots of years gone by. Their words were right then and they are still right today!   We will not be dominated and over-run by fear and intimidation. We will defend our individual freedoms, protect our families and even die for our nation if we have too!

James Madison said, “The ultimate authority… resides in the people alone…   The advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation… forms a barrier against the enterprise of ambition…”

A worthy quote in closing!
