Christian Worldview: “In the Beginning Man…
Or … In the Beginning God!”
In 1925, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) defended the teaching of evolution in the now famous Scopes Trial. Most of us have at least a cursory knowledge about the outcome of this trial. It was also called in some venues the “monkey trial.” Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Bryan were the debaters. The evolutionists won and the ACLU has fought hard through the years to keep creationism from being taught in America’s public schools.
Author Brannon Howse has written a book entitled, One Nation, Under Man. In the chapter, Evolution: The Liberals’ Attempt to Deny God, he provides this statement:
|
“The humanists’ point in promoting naturalistic evolution is to create an intellectually sophisticated way to deny the existence of God. I would contend, however, that believing in evolution requires more blind faith than believing in God.”
|
Dr. D. G. Lindsay in Foundations for Creationism describes the blind religion of evolution this way:
|
“Evolution is a religion that attributes everything to “nature.” It demands a faith that is totally blind. Since the evolutionist believes nature and its laws are the guiding force in the universe, he is totally at odds with the Christian faith and the essential miraculous aspect of creation.
The miraculous events of the Bible deviate from the known laws of nature, or at least from our understanding of them. However, the evolutionist is blind to the fact that his religion, evolution, violates every known law for its own existence, making atheistic evolution more incredible (miraculous) than the Christian faith.”
|
It is obvious that both sides must exercise faith. It takes faith to believe in “creationism” and it takes faith to believe in “evolution!”
A number of remarkable things have occurred in the last few years. Scientific discoveries have caused some scientists to reject the lie of evolution and begin to explore the evidence for an “intelligent designer.” Things like the complexity of the human body and the orderliness of the universe are so overwhelming, these researchers no longer believe that everything we see and know happened by chance. Nevertheless, while no longer believing in evolution, they are not ready to say, God is, but at least they acknowledge the necessity of an intelligent designer of some sort.
Regardless of the name you put on those who hold to the evolutionary position (humanist, secularist, atheist, liberal, other) he has no choice but to reject God and believe in the supremacy of man. Any evidence presented to them will be rejected as they want only to have their desired reality that does not involve God. Here is what one writer said, “The liberal, then, who chooses to have faith in evolution does so not because of compelling intellectual honesty but because the alternative requires “accountability to God both in this life and the next!”
Psalm 14:1 “the fool hath said in his heart there is no God….”
One would have to be foolish to look at the historical, archaeological, prophetic, philosophical, and scientific evidence and still deny God’s existence.
Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament showeth forth His handiwork…”
Let me give a simple summary statement. The real issue is not that one worldview (biblical base) requires faith while the other (atheism) does not, both do!
The question is: Which worldview is based on more rational faith? To that, the answer is clear. There is far greater evidence for the existence of God as Creator than for the notion that everything came about by random chance.
Blessings upon you,
